I saw this little guy in an email from ebaybanned just now,

http://www.ebairsoft.com/aabb-style-glock-carbine-conversion-p-3416.html

I thought, you know, I bet that could fit over the top of a TPX or a T8 with a little modification to both. I would wager that for the TPX it could almost be integrated into the frame so that it became PART of the gun, but either way, if it just sleeved over the top of either pistol, and held in with a pair of screws perhaps, that could be an awesome way to turn these pistols into modern "Tac-Bac" carbines with more PDW/serious play personality.

The price certainly competes favorably to many other similar kits for such a platform, and it looks like it's fairly rugged ABS or fiber-impregnated nylon, not the flimsy brittle stuff.

I'm not saying I'm about to buy one, but I thought this is a good seed of an idea for someone looking for a quick drop-on conversion kit? It also HIGHLY resembles that magpul collapsible PDW thing, but without the mostly useless for paintball folding action. I actually think this looks pretty cool.

Only concern is whether the paintball markers will be forced to move further rearwards into the stock and reduce the LOP too much.

Got that same email, and was thinking the same thing. At $73 it's not badly priced for a shroud, if that's what you'ure looking for. They mention there's 2 types for 2 different styles of airsoft guns, I wonder if there's a major different and if that would effect fit for paintball

No way a TPX or T8 would fit that. A glock is no more than 30mm across, a T8 or a TPX is 35+

That's a good point. Now, I'd wager still that at least a TPX could if you did extensive mods, to the point that it's no longer a drop-in replacement; the internal valve is only 28.5mm wide and I imagine there's some clearance inside that shroud between the sides of the glock frame and slide and the side-walls. If you ground down the body-shells of the TPX to the bare minimum wall-thickness required to hold the valve and bolt assembly, that should be roundabout 30-31mm wide. I bet that could be made to fit. At that point though, it might make for a more ugly pistol without the shroud on it.

I wouldnt frig with the outercase dude... if it blows out, you could hurt yourself and it would be expensive to replace...

Question, would this be illegal to import into Canada? My head hurts trying to figure out what this would be considered at the border...

Nope, it shouldn't be. This is the shroud that fits over something, and is not metal. I may be considred an upper receiver by some Officers, but they'd be wrong. Any seizure action against this should be overturned, and I would side with that person in an official manner if action was taken on a product such as this, as long as that action was based only on it being mis-classified.

Well the TPX frame doesn't handle any air-pressure.

What could happen is that the polymer is too thin in the walls and causes the valve to loose part of its support which could cause the mainspring to force the valve out, but it would have to also overcome the support of the regulator. Because, the regulator with the brass connection tube between it and the valve is still a fairly strong mechanical link, and the regulator's position is very well secured in the polymer frame.

Do I think it's perfectly safe? Nothing ever is. But would I feel confident doing it myself? I would have no qualms. If I thought there was some chance of the stock TPX frame being insufficient to support the valve components in place, then extra reinforcement would be provided from the carbine shroud itself, and I would just buy replacement TPX shrouds in case I wanted to run as a pistol again.

Also the max width of the outside of the actual TPX frame is 31mm but it gets wider down low where the regulator and trigger bar bumps are located, out to something like 45mm. As long as the carbine shroud were trimmed around those features, I would bet it should be able to interface.

Still all just a guess tho.

Only one way to find out....and that's the have someone at Grey Ops test it ;)

As far as the folding action, I was thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea, nice to be able to toss a carbine lenght marker folded into a small backpack. A huge chunck of my gear bag is taken up by my full length markers that aren't easily dis-assembeled.
