UPDATE:
We have found ourselves with a bit of a sudden schedule change for the season. Ben Torricelli, MPP GAMES Producer, has had to make the difficult decision to cancel the OP U-Go Burma game originally scheduled for Sept. 20-21. After a lot of thoughtful discussion with our players, we have elected to replace the game with one of our own and move it back to the beginning of the month. It seems that many of our players are feeling the need to take on one of our own scenarios again!

We know it's last minute, and we know the economy is tough right now, so we are dropping our game price and we will be selling paint for this game by the 1/2 case! Also - we do enough mil-sim games throughout the year. We've tossed that aside - this game is just meant to be FUN and action packed!

Fall is upon Command Decisions Wargames Center - and unfortunately, so are the infected humans. Will you survive our season opener?

Come join us for a unique, yet fun game - open to all levels of skill. This isn't so much about tactics, mil-sim, combat stategy (we have enough games for that during the year!). We have added on to the field - come see what we've been busy with over the summer. Field paint will be sold by the half case.

I Am Legend- The Battle for the Old Race

A paintball scenario game developed and run by Bill "Greenman" Ford

You may be familiar with I Am Legend from the recent movie starring Will Smith, and some of you may know that movie was based upon an early 1970s movie, Omega Man, starring Charlton Heston. What you might not know is both were based upon a book by Richard Matheson from 1954. And that is what this game will be based on. Wanna get a leg up? Read the Book.

In the very near future, a plague has swept over the world. Its source is unknown, but its results are. The vast majority of humanity is dead, and it its place have settled two distinct societies- the humans who have developed a resistance to the germ and did not die or turn, and the infected, who over a period of a few years developed a relationship with the germ and have recovered to a degree.

The humans reside in barricaded fortresses and live in the daytime. They forage for food and supplies from the tattered remains of the former human civilization. They survive, and hope that one day their kind will once again be able to return to the world as they knew it. They are called the “Old Race”. Yet they live in constant fear of another society, the ones who own the night- the Infected.

The world of the Infected started badly. The way the germ originally worked made those who had the disease act irrationally, and most believed they were undead, like vampires and zombies. This was complicated by the fact that some were, in fact, truly dead and only the germ kept them animate. Regardless of if they were merely infected or undead, the rules for their survival were apparent- sunlight killed them, and they had to feed. They hid in hives during the day and came out to hunt at night. These dark days of the Infected found them hunting the humans for food- a physical necessity for the True Dead (as the germ needed fresh blood to survive) and as a psychological need for the Mere Infected (as they assumed that was what they should do).

After a few years, though, the Infected realized they were not the undead monsters that they thought. The germ had sufficiently mutated to the point that these people realized that they were only “changed”, and noticed that both the humans were killing them, as well as the true dead. They redeveloped their conscious, rational minds and began to destroy the threat to their continued existence- the True Dead, the undead monsters who still plagued the Earth. Within a few months of their awakening, all the truly dead were gone, killed by the humans and the infected alike.

Yet the battle didn’t end there, with the balance of who owned the day and night- the humans still considered the infected a threat to their continued existence. They hunted the Infected during the day, and lay traps for them at night. They tried to capture some in order to perform tests and develop a cure. The humans think that they can “cure” the Infected.

The Infected, on the other hand, hate the Humans. They believe they are the next epoch in human development. Over time, they have even developed ways of temporarily coming out into the sunlit world denied to them for so many years. They resist the notion that they are sick, and instead believe it is the day walkers- the humans, the old race, who are responsible for their plight. They referred to themselves as the “Dark Seekers”.

Neither side believes they can live in harmony with the other, so the Battle for the Old Race has begun.

"The Human Race" survivors have taken refuge inside abandoned Military Forts. These Forts provide security, safety, supplies, and communication with the rest of the human survivors. Dr. Andre Furguse is trying to develop an anti-virus to heal the infected. Once he develops the anti-virus, he must get it to the human colonies for safe keeping, as well as, to further decontaminate the "Dark Seeker" infestation. Until then, the Human Race must forage and stock supplies from the remnants of the former human civilization. The human Race must also establish and defend communications with other colonies.

Meanwhile, the "Dark Seekers" must survive, and cause as much chaos as possible for the humans. The "Dark Leader" will have to cut supply shipments and communications, and rescue one of their own from Dr. Furguse’s horrible experiments. They are hard at work developing their own concentrated version of the plague that will overcome the resistance of the humans. The only problem is- the Dark Seekers can not come out into the sunlight. They will have to do battle under the shade of the forests, in which few of these human colonies are located. Only at the "Last Battle" when the sun is down, and darkness is upon ALL the land, can the Dark Seekers do their most terror.

In this "Last Battle", both sides must take over two of the most important cities. Sim City is where Dr. Furguse has the anti-virus, and he must be stopped and destroyed by taking the city. Or, held and protected by the humans. Also, the largest human survival colony in Fort Rex, must be taken or defended for the future of both races.

Points to be awarded for the following-

1. 50 points awarded for holding a city or fort at the top of every hour except the last. (Flip Flags used).

2. 50 points awarded for each of the 6 missions handed out at the bottom of every hour. The missions must be completed by the top of the hour.

3. 200 points awarded for each of the cities in the final battle. (Flip Flags used).

Game Footnotes:

1. The "Dark Seekers" CAN NOT come out of the wood line, (into the sunlight), except during the "Last Battle." If caught outside the wood line, they are out and must re-spawn from a dead zone. The exception to this is those Infected who have a mission card specifically telling them they have temporary immunity from the sunlight for only the duration of the mission.

2. Once the anti-virus has been developed by Dr. Furguse, (decided by game producer based upon mission success), only then can he "HEAL" Dark Seeker Mutants. (Shoot them and change their ribbon color.)

3. "The Virus" is the only one that can infect (shoot and change a player's ribbon color) a human during the game but, only after the super-virus has been developed by the Dark Seekers.

4. Referees must assist the Role Players in "healing" and "infecting" paintball players.

5. "Last Battle" is for Sim City and Firebase Rex

6. Tanks or APC's could be used if desired, for fort defense and transport of supplies and anti-viruses, which would then incorporate anti-tank.

7. Flip Flags determine who owns bases. RED for "Infected" and BLUE for "Human Race."

8. Starting Points:

"Dark Seekers" start in Fort Apache. This is their "Hive" or "HQ."
"Human Race" starts in all the other bases, with a heavy concentration at Firebase Rex.

9. Re insert Points:

"Dark Seekers" re-insert

(1.) Behind Sim on route 9
(2.) DZ3 and DZ4.

"Human Race" re-insert

(1.) Route 6 entrance down power lines
(2.) DZ2 and DZ6.

10. NO Air strikes or Artillery.

11. Role Players must wear a BRIGHT colored shirt or costume.

12. Civilian Clothing is recommended for Dark Seekers. (Blue jeans, T-shirts, speed ball attire, hunting attire, fireman uniforms, work uniforms, farming attire, etc.)

13. Awards for:

"Best Dressed Infected"
"Best Dressed Human"
"Sportsmanship"
"MVP"
“MVT”
"Best Referee"
"Winning Leader"

14. Phases-

One- 1100-1230
Lunch 1230-1330
Two 1330-1500
Three 1500-1630
Final Battle- 1630-1700

And, of course, The CDWC famous end of game door prize spectacular will be in full swing at 1730.

Cost- $25 pre-reg, $35 on game day

Paint will be sold by the 1/2 case (1000 rounds) for 22.50 for field, 27.50 for mid grade. Save your money for Fulda Gap.

This is looking like a great game and a little divergence from the typical historical battle scenario I am looking forward to shooting Ferg numerous times. Can you say a 32 man stacked V right up the middle of Sim with me in the middle???And Diesel with his new TM7 right behind me with my new TM7? .................:gunslinger: :gunslinger:

lol jester ;)

Guys I want to reiterate that this game is still going to happen. The weather looks like it's going to hold, and it's going to be a blast! I highly reccomend that you come play! When else will you get an opportunity to shoot at Ferg, and possibly even Lee (she claims she may play).

It turned out to be awesome and the Humans repelled the Night Seekers, winning the game! :)

kewl thanks FanDam. Glad to hear it was a hit. Being a fan of The Omega Man and I am Legend that would have been a kewl scenario to go to.

Yeah it was relatively small but the numbers were perfect for a fun and fair game. If you see Greenman producing another scenario and you're going to be near CDP, I highly recommend you attend.

Wow - the game made the pages of Action Pursuit Games (pp 40-42) of the March 2009 issue! Our very own FanDam, Greenman, Woodboss and Ferg (in the doctor outfit) grace the pages (or should I say "deface" the pages :P ). Congrats, guys!
